================================================== ==============================
===

This forecast represents the *PERSONAL OPINION* of the Chief forecaster at the
privately run Haytor meteorological office in Devon on how the weather may
unfold next week. The Chief forecaster will take no responsibility whatsoever
for any actions arising from its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of
freedom and the great love for meteorology that we personally enjoy and wish to
share freely with others.

================================================== ==============================
===

Summary valid for Sunday 17/09/06 to Saturday 23/09/06
TOI (time of issue) Friday 15/09/06 2100 UK local time

This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX,
and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten

High confidence that the week will become dominated by a warm and strong west to
southwest airflow with bands of rain moving from west to east. Given the
volatility of the Atlantic and the presence of ex-tropical storms in the flow,
detail is impossible to predict with anything but very low confidence. However,
there are reasonable indications that mid-week sees the greatest chance of gales
and some very wet weather, especially in western and northern areas. 25% chance
of damaging storm force winds on Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather is expected
to turn much less windy later in the week but staying changeable with
temperatures above average.

I don't believe in angels David, but walking, especially in wild weather in
isolated spots, does do something for the soul!

Bright and breezy this morning (force 4-5 on the moor), but warm, temperature
13.6 deg C at 0900.

It's been warm but the flow has not been strong and has had a more southerly or
even easterly component at times. But I take your point Paul!

Cheers,

Will.

Now you've got me going.
I came across this, almost appropriate,but maybe late October-

Autumn Day

Lord: it is time. The summer was immense.
Let thine shadows upon the sundials fall,
and unleash the winds upon the open fields.

Command the last fruits into fullness;
give them just two more ripe, southern days,
urge them into completion and press
the last bit of sweetness into the heavy wine.

He who has no house now, will no longer build.
He who is alone now, will stay alone,
will awake in the night, read, write long letters,
and will wander restlessly along the avenues,
back and forth, as the leaves begin to blow.

Very well known - and like most poetry much better in the original than in
translation. See below.

Herbsttag
Herr, es ist Zeit. Der Sommer war sehr groß.
Leg deinen Schatten auf die Sonnenuhren,
und auf den Fluren laß die Winde los.

Befiehl den letzten Früchten, voll zu sein;

Thanks Colin and David, the original (which I haven't seen, of course, rhymes

I'm looking forward to autumn now!
