Evening all,
Cant find the earlier thread (was it on here, or on TWO?) reference the long run of nights with ninima in excess of 10c. Anyway - it's now October 1st and I still haven't had a night minimum below 10c since June 7th here in Bournemouth. That is unpredecented in the 10 years that I've kept records here - just wondering how unusual it is. Anyone else had a longer run or not had a minimum below 10c this autumn so far? Jim, Bournemouth No Jim. Just counted and we've 38 since that date, but would have thought that a low number. Your record must be exceptional. -- David Mitchell, 70m amsl, Langtoft, East Riding of Yorkshire. |

Jim_ I will have a look at my figures for Milton Abbas hopefully Tuesday a.m. and may be our member in Fareham will do the same. Being a rural location I would expect lower night minimum readings. Dodged mega showers today by going underground at Burrington (mendips). When I surfaced at 1248 there had been a mega shower and the volumn of water roaring down the Combe was impressive. Much of it was being diverted into one of the dead end caves. When I went down Swildon's at Priddy a few rumbles started as we went in to the Hole. Not much happened whilst we were inside, which is a shame as it can be pretty sporting stuff at that location. I don't think there was much during the day at home though.. R |

Anyone else had a longer run or not had a minimum below 10c this autumn so
I have recorded 11 days with minima below 10C since June 7th here in the Otter Valley in south Devon. The fact that you haven't recorded a minima below 10C since June 7th is quite remarkable. _______________ Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 80 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

What is perhaps more remarkable is that we have only had two nights with a
min below 10°C here on Fair Isle this autumn. 8.1°C 15th September and 9.1° last night (30/01)! Unfortunately the 'mild' conditions have resulted in a continuation of our usual summer fogs right through into autumn. Where have our autumnal gales gone? Since June 7th I've had four 24h minima below 10 deg C and none below 9 deg C. Since June 1st I've had none below 9 deg C but I have no long term records to compare it with. We are suburban rather than rural where I live. A mile North of here (North of the M27) night time minima are likely to have been 1 to 3 degrees C cooler on calm-ish clear nights. I know, I've been out there not a few times to check! ![]() -- Dave Fareham (West) |

Anyway - it's now October 1st and I still haven't had a night minimum below 10c since June 7th here in Bournemouth.
