Well of course the pressure is 0mb, there would be no atmosphere
at those temperatures :)
You know I think somebody once worked out the thicknesss
of solid atmosphere that would form at those temperatures
and it really was very small, IIRC only around 10m or so.

Solid atmosphere? So it would be solid and not a gas or liquid? Does
that really class as an atmosphere?!

If the earth had no air, then perhaps the earth's crust could then be
classed as "atmosphere"

All right, you know what I meant :)
If our atmosphere turned solid then!

Conversely, how do you measure the air temperature when there's no air?

Whoever said anything about *air* temperature?

It's what you expect from a weather forecast, if no qualification is
applied to the temperature.

Why so, if there was anybody around to receive a *real* forecast
like that, they'd *know* there was no air out there!

Anyway, *please* let us have some interesting autumnal weather
to discuss, stops us quibbling over ridiculous hypothetical
situations like this :)

But isn't "weather" that which happens in the atmosphere, by definition?

:)

We could always go back to that old standby of discussing what sort of
winter we're likely to have,.
