Another one bits the dust
"Dave.C" wrote in message k... Rob, Graham, we know that and we don't mind! What you guys don't seem to get is that we don't all like feeling cold either. We just happen to think that constant cloud, damp, drizzle and 6-7C actually FEELS colder. It makes us miserable.Being cheerful folks we prefer beautiful blue skies, crisp frosts and a snowfall that makes everywhere so bright and cheery and is different and great fun for kids. It *does* feel colder - coming out to my car on a damp, cloudy, 8deg morning is much more cold feeling than a -1 still, sunny morning! Was recently in switzerland on top of a mountain at -12, and, honest to god, I was colder back in blighty at a rainy heathrow at 9 degrees! James |

I was originally going to post another "my dreams!" message here, but
instead I will deliver something that is a little bit more constructive this time around to you all.:-) On the radio this morning I distinctly heard the forecaster saying that a cold easterly will become established next week - but I can't see it on any chart. I'm sure something weird is going on.. Indeed. This is just another in a long-line of regional weather forecasters who are calling a "cold easterly" to develop sometime in this February, in spite of frequent poor - from a strict snow-lovers point of view - model runs of late. However, unlike in previous years, when the likes of Tom Presutti and Metcheck would lead the final "cold February" charge, à la 2003 and 2004 respectively, this time, it's, amazingly, the Met Office, and their aligned BBC and local forecasters - bar Everton Fox over on the BBC Weather weekly update website - who are leading the charge this year. These as indeed interesting times we indeed live in - and that's a grave understatement.:-) By the way, Robert Felix's website is reporting that Moscow has just had the snowiest weather ON RECORD! Couple this with Europe's heaviest snows since about 1941 - no wonder, frankly, the Pontiff was hospitalised in ROME(!) because of this - and this *may* be what is heading out way! This is indeed an exceptionally potent Siberian/Kazakhstan blast. If this is to reoccur repeatedly for the second half of this winter - February 6-March 21 by the old Pagan calendar - just as it had already done in the first half, not to mention at least ONCE throughout the last two disappointing winters for Britain, then the chances of course will no doubt grow that it *might* affect Britain, just like it already has the far South-East of the country!:-o Brian Gaze - this PROVES your theory that these easterly cold snaps *can* still deliver the goods. (Has anyone seen the pictures that came in from Eastern Austria and Southern Bavaria the other day?) The question is now, as Andrew Bond has said in his unofficial comments to TWO, will it ever each the United Kingdom? D. |

"Graham Jones" wrote in message ... So another cold snap bites the dust. The good thing about being a mild weather lover is that my wishes keep coming true this winter. Yup, and they seemed reasonably confident about it too. Bright and breezy with snow showers in places temps down to -5C across much of the country. Now just rain at times with temps down to (shock, horror!) around average. Any snow confined to the Scottish Highlands. If this was December I'd be very disappointed, but now who cares? Certainly not me. The days are getting longer, the sun is climbing higher in the sky and spring is on it's way. This winter is over. Every year I hope for if not a genuinely severe winter but one in which there are at least a couple of severe periods. Every year continues to disappoint. Let's face it, GW is taking over...... There is nothing stopping me.:-) Well, except celibacy. Well, your children have my utmost sympathies. Thank you. They will need it if they come into the world anywhere within 50 miles of the British Isles.:-) Come on, throw another witty retort back this way - you know we all just LOVE to see your inane rants and raves.
