Central Park almost 21°c

La Guardia 21.1°c

Incredible.

The US Climate Data I have has the record being 72f.

From 1960-90 averages:
Absolute January maximums:
Central Park 20.0°c
JFK 18.3°c
La Guardia 20.0°c

Incidentally warmer absolutes in February.

My Rough Guide to America says the average maximum temperature in New
York in January is 37F (3C). Is this correct? That would be like us
getting a 26C day in January!
