http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/ and http://metcheck.com/

should hang their heads in shame and be removed from the internet
immediately after their appalling Winter Forcasts, which lets face it
were a traversty ,a joke, and a complete load of bull.

If i remember correctly they both forecasted the Coldest Winter in
years with heavy snow and freezing conditions, and what have we ended up
with, well where i live in Sussex erm 2 days of falling snow and one day
of lying snow, although to see that i had to climb to over 600ft asl.
Not exactly severe is it!!!!!!!,infact it's heading towards the Mildest
Winter ever!!!!!

Of course you can see why they do it year in year out, free publicity in
the Mainstream Press. They will be hailed as Gods if it comes off and
most people will forget about it if it doesn't.

But it annoys me,what about all the kids up and down the Country, most i
guess have never seen much snow, given the current run of mild
Winters, being brought Sledges, because their Parents read in the papers
about how cold this winter was going to be..

I know of 2 people who have done that, even though i did try and tell
them the Headlines were bull.

Now as we can see how plainly wrong these independants were, and always
are,why can't something be done about these people .

Rant over!!
Rupert

Indeed Rupert, it does make you sick. I hope newpapers like the Mail
expose these people for the charlatans they are. But an article on the
evaluation of a severe winter forecast that never was is never going
to make the same news pages that a potential severe winter will in
November.

One of them did - that was The Weather Outlook.

Agreed.

Believe me though, 2002 *was* worse. At least now I had tasted the
bitter taste of capitalist Conservative Party mild winter before.:-o
:-( :-(

I know of 2 people who have done that, even though i did try and tell
them the Headlines were bull.

I know of more.

Oh, and don't forget the Met Office;-) :-o:

I cannot honestly remember ANYBODY forecasting a *severe* winter this
year. Can you?

I know that The Weather Outlook and some others DID forecast a
"severe", per se, winter back in the autumn of 2001 for the coming
winter of 2002, hence this is where my beef directly comes from, and
that Brian Gaze was *ready* to repeat this in November 2003 for the
then-looming 2004 winter, in spite of what he will say. Metcheck should
and HAVE apologised, and I think I discussed this with Brian via
e-mail, can't remember what he told me though!:-o

Nath's comments are also correct.

Dig out some of my old posts about this.

I.e.: start with my very own post on this very forum:

and do some Archive.Org searches as well. They are usually VERY
productive, as well as educational.:-)

Today's kids don't have the memories of past winters, so in a sense
they don't know what they are missing

To be blunt, parents of kids that like snow that live on low ground in
southern England are going to have to scrape some pennies together to
travel, or head for high ground

Because to be honest, a decent and widespread snow event right down to
sea level across southern England, is looking like a rare event from
now on

People can ramp all they like, but statistics do need to be noted as
well

Very True

Unless we see The Azores High move Southwards,or the Much talked about
Gulf Stream Shut-down,That it as far as deep Snow-cover is concerned
for the South at least at low levels-(
