Default Winds... what winds?

Been listening to the weather reports all day on the radio and feeling an
impending sense of doom knowing what was heading our way... but here I am at
20.00 and there is nothing more than a bit of a breeze outside. It got a bit
more breezy during this afternoon, but nothing that you could call a gale or
even a strong wind.

Is this the only bit of the UK that seems to have missed the maelstrom?

Regards... DAVID.

It's been a gorgeous day here - light breeze, lots of sun, you might
almost call it 'spring-like'. It felt quite strange sitting here with
the window wide open reading about all the snow in the rest of Scotland,
and the gales in England and Wales.

After a bit of "googling" I'll suggest Sunderland:-) And that area was
largely unaffected by the winds further south.

I don't know where you are, but unless you are in Moray the
answer is no.

It's been cold here, and mostly overcast, but flat calm all day,
and barely a few drops of rain. Oh, and no snow.

But that area was always going to be marginal as to whether very
strong winds were going to happen.

What did surprise me was that NW England appears to have had
most of the strongest winds - 91mph at Winter Hill, obviously
high elevation but the 76mph at Manchesater Airport is very notable.
I expected the strongest winds today to be somewhere in the Midlands.

Conditions in Bolton today can truely be described as savage.

78 mph at Leeds Bradford Airport - I was there waithing for a flight from
Exeter that never arrived, but diverted to Teesside. A struggle opening
the car door and floods and fallen trees on route from Pudsey if anyone
knows the area

No.

One centimetre of snow this morning and a pleasant afternoon with some
sunshine and a gentle breeze.
