I see there is a severe weather warning for HEAVY snow, up to 5cm ;-) , for
most regions Midlands southwards, for early hours of this morning. Issued 2231z. Must be expecting some intensification or a " just in case" as we've had in the past. Dave, -0.9C, RH= 85% |

...... but the main map may be a bit misleading e.g if you click on Eastern
England, Luton and Hertfordshire are the most Easterly and for London and the South East it is mostly Western Home Counties. Kent being threatened for Thursday though, probably similar to just after Christmas last year. Dave. |

Once agiain the North misses out on the warnings. If they are applicable from the Midlands south, why not here? Anyway, we have white rain falling and standing on grass. rooves, roads. It must be about 1 - 2 cms deep and is not running away. -- David Mitchell, 70m amsl, Langtoft, East Riding of Yorkshire. |

Do the MO know what heavy snow is? http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/..._warnings.html "Snow falling at a rate of 2 cm/hour or more expected for at least two hours." Current radar returns indicate 2-4mm/hour, which, if taken literally, translates to 2-4cm/hour of snow. At 2345Z the rate was briefly 4-8 just south of the Humber. Jon. |

Harry Graham (1874-1936) Yes, thought it was pretty accurate. I did stay up till 12.30 am plotting it's progress on the radar and thought it would come a bit further East than predicted. Ended up with about 1cm here. Dave, S.Essex |

I think that is the deepest snow we've had for about 4 years. I'm sure the Chilterns just south of me had at least as much if not more. |
