OK guys, it's still on and so close we can almost touch it!
But remember to please keep your toys in the pram if
you don't get the snow you think you deserve
Not all of us will make it, but good luck everybody,
we're going in.....

Should this newsgroup close down as a precaution?

Glory awaits??

Not here! Temp 5c and rising and DP has also shot up to be above zero in
the last couple of hours.
There will be nowt but rain here, but then we knew that all along!!

The only real snow down here comes with a raging Continental easterly and
a Channel low.

Well I did say not all of us would make it!

Your Joking, that's taking the ****. I live in darkest mid Wales and my
kids School are deciding in the morning what they're doing.

Rob.

----------------
I couldn't get to school for almost a week in 1963 because the bus couldn't
get up the hill through the four foot snow drifts. Naturally the school was
open despite the outside toilets being a bit frozen. Managed the next three
months though the 12" pack ice on the pavements was tricky at times.
Dave
P.S - Wouldn't it be a wonderful opportunity to put all those funny 4WD jeep
things on the school run to good use.

Heh, I guess that did sound rather like a Lawrence post but
wahat I wanted to invoke was the 'never say die' attitude
of most of the members of this ng when it comes to hoping
for snowy weather.
As for myself, well I think I'm just a little but too far north
for the really serious stuff and thee's always the threat it will
break up over the Pennines whatever the local forecast says,
but I think I'm good for a couple of inches here.

I've seen reports on another ng that schools in Dudley are closed tomorrow
already!

3 years ago snow was forecast for this area. We had a little but nothing
like what had been forecast. No problems on the roads - everything normal.
Everything, that is, except for the council's refuse collections - they
closed down for the day. I (and many others) complained and was told the
weather had been too dangerous for the collections to be made. I disagreed
but they insisted the weather had been too extreme :-(

Lazy sods had arranged the day off (paid) the day before and stuck to it in
spite of no bad weather.

The same thing happened here in Guildford a couple of weeks ago except
not only did they have the day off but they also got overtime to do the
collection on Saturday!!!

A bit of snow and the country panics.
Pathetic.
