The frogs in our garden pond started their springtime croaking
yesterday. I don't keep a record of these things but that seems very
early. I think it's usually March before they get up to such activities
but I could be wrong.

From my own records (integrated with those of nearby Easthampstead

such periods in the last 35 years.

Our spawn appeared about a week ago and the Lesser Celandine, my Spring
benchmark, is looking very vigourous..

A maximum of 13.2°C today, the highest since 6th November.

I spotted half a dozen frogs (and caught one) in a pond in a
quarry on the Hill of Clashmadin near Cullen this afternoon. It
does seem very early for them to be active, especially being so
much further north than Norman is.

I saw toads all over the place while on my way to the pub this
evening. Hardly dozens but one or two in a number of places. All
pretending I hadn't seen them.

Ditto here, lots of spawn and loads of writhing frogs in our pond yesterday
here in Lancashire.
