Heard on the wireless that Luton had had a early thunderstorm with 10mm of
rain.
Does that mean that if Philip Eden didn't know about it ,there's someone out
there tring to steal his thunder ?

Oh, sorry. I see now it was meant to be a joke. I'm not in
a very receptive mood this morning.

Well, that's odd. I wonder where he got that from. The airport
didn't report thunder, nor does it report rainfall. I'll investigate.
Or perhaps Everton might like to drop me an e-mail (when I
used to go in regularly it wasn't possible to post to usenet via
the BBC system although that may have changed).

.... as an aside, this is Everton's last week on R5L: I believe his last
broadcast shift is tomorrow.

Martin.

My fuzzy memory of it was that someone else mentioned it, and quite a bit
earlier. Might have been Helen Blaby in the traffic report.

Nothing of any great note in Chalfont St Giles. 1.3 mm between 0110z and
0130z with a max rate between bucket tips of 5 mm/hr. After 0130z there
were only occasional bucket tips (0.254mm per tip - actually 0.01
inches) up till 0700z.

Ah, OK ... and could it be the Everton tried to add some factual
information to a vague traffic report by deducing from the radar
output that rain was falling at 10mm **per hour** in the area?

I'll not find out my own Luton figure until this evening, unfortunately.

Philip
