Default [WR] Hail shower

I just began to hail as I was out in the garden replenishing the
birdfeeders. Beginning to turn to rain now, however.

My sparrows vanished for the winter ... are they with you ?
Other resident species still here.

I've had a few here in Stafford. *Lots* of finches as well.

Martin.

You would be very welcome to take the raucous blighters that play
in our guttering. Incidentally, while scanning the view to compile the
1450Z weather report (in another post), I noticed well in excess of
150 fieldfare, 100 redwing and 40 starlings feeding on the pastures
at the edge of town.

The trick is to use a funnel.

I've also seen a pair of long-tailed tits (new to me) and a grey bird
with a black head, about the size of a blue-tit. I think it's called a
Black Cap, also new to me.

Weather-wise (just to keep this vaguely on-topic) it's clearing now, and
calming down a bit. Sky is 70% clear, wind from the WNW.
