Odd. I live in Stoke on Trent -quite a bit away and thought I heard
that crack of doom too.

It sounded a little odd fo thunder but all else seemed to fit and it
was followed immediately by an heavy shower of what must have been
hail. I thought it was more snow atr the time but realise now it fell
too thick and fast for that.

Perhaps it was some distance away or maybe muffled by height?

The radar does show some vivid colours your way. Down here in sleepy
Dorset there were a couple of short showers after lunch and that is
all...

Hi Robin,

The temperature has plummeted from 4.2C to 1.5C in the last
40 minutes during our latest shower, now containing quite big
splodgy snowflakes with the rain. Interesting day here.

Nigel
