Not to be outdone by the Express, and because news of asylum seekers
and truffle shortages at Waitrose is in short supply, the Mail offers this nugget of lunacy: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...#StartComments Martin |

Here is one such comment: "As ever with met office predictions, l shall believe it when l see it. Would trust Mystic Meg more than that bunch. And you know what - Mystic Meg is SOMETIMES right!" -- Mike Tullett - Coleraine 55.13°N 6.69°W posted 02/01/2008 14:24:37 GMT |

I have just replied to the above comments page warning the Daily Mail off Corbyn and saying in doing that he tarnishes the Met Office's hard work at forecasting as normally these forecasts are associated with them. Doubt it'll get published on their website ! Richard |

Told them what will really happen and asked if I'm right if I can have Weather Action's fee! Also love this "Extremes of temperature affect the chemical performance of the battery, resulting in a loss of charge.' Ok, then why didn't you tell everyone in December before the 10 air frosts that will probably produce lower temperatures than this will! Dave |

Mind you, these Daily Mail comment facilities soon fill up, and although they will allow you to submit a comment, it often never appears. CK |

But Piers Corbyn, from longrange forecasters Weather-Action, said that after a brief lull, the bad weather will return with a vengeance from the middle of next week. He added: ...... "The average temperature for January as a whole will be close to freezing, with 0.8C (33.4F) at best, and could fall to minus 12C (10.4F) in the South." Blimey that's a low average for the South. Best wrap up warm. |

According to the BBC at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7169438.stm "Snow up to 10cm deep may settle on Scottish hillsides, with drifts of up to 4cm on lower levels." Snow drifts up to 4cm ? My god, that's over an inch high, it could come halfway up the side of your shoe ! -- Paul |
