Apart from the obvious benefits of cheaper heating heating bills is
anyone on here (south of York) honestly enjoying this current weather.

It might be over 14c - but it is damp, overcast and dull - utterly
awful.

Whatever happened to our crisp, January days of sun, 5c and no wind...

Well I have had over 54 hours now of non-stop and often heavy drizzle with
temperatures between 9.5C and 11.6C day and night. Actually starting to brighten
up a bit now with sun glimpses at 1200 (still drizzling though).

The only thing that is keeping me going ATM is the prospect of a light snow
cover at altitude on Thursday and then some near-normal temperatures after then.

I am.

OK, it's not that sunny, but it is quite bright here with odd glimpse of the
sun. No need for any heating and being outside is a pleasure with the air
feeling warm.

Off for a walk along the beach, and no need for the usual hat/gloves.

Currently (12:15), 13.3C, RH 84%, DP 10.5C, 1022.7 hPa (S), Wind 5 mph SW.

Definitely not a pleasure up here Nick, past two days walking I have come back
soaked, horizontal drizzle slamming into your face is no pleasure at all. This
warm southwesterly weather is dire for us on Dartmoor, give me a crisp snow
cover, no wind, sun and -1C any day. It is meant to be winter after all! Not
summer.

Still much colder by the end of the week, so something for a lot of us to look
forward to :-)
Might even get the log fire going again :-)

12Z FAX for Thursday T+108 shows cold front through with sub-528DAM air behind.
GFS has a large area sub -5C at 850 hPa. Trough approaching SW in cold air which
will give a short spell of snow on Dartmoor. Gets milder again on Friday so a
one day wonder re snow but temperatures recovering to near normal, i.e around
6-7C. Sub 510 Dam air is being pushed south of 50N in western Atlantic and
although that will warm up considerably by the time it reaches here, we will
have lost the 546 DAM air by then for a few days.
