Threat of major global recession-far worse for humanity than any GW
All those that think the capitalist economy cen be tinkered with, as
if a toy , with carbon credits and targets really do need to get the scale and fragility of current human existence into perspective. I've always taken the line that any proposed IPCC Stern fairy tale land of left wing ideological dreams, of throwing a marxist spanner into the engine of the Great ship Capitalism, not only forgot the iceberg but also the fact that they are on the ship. Yes there is a Spectre haunting capitalism and the world we know and it definetly isn't so called AGW. |

Yes there is a Spectre haunting capitalism and the world we know and it definetly isn't so called AGW. "All those that think the capitalist economy" will last for ever "really do need to the scale and fragility of current human existence into perspective " The current global economy is driven by the US, who were able to defy normal economics which is based on the principle of the distribution of scarce resources. The European invaders of America found no shortage of resources there and hence its rapid expansion. However, US oil is now becoming scarce, and soon world oil, which the US has been treating as limitless, will run out too. No empire or civilisation lasts for ever, and when they collapse it is sudden and violent. There is a question of whether global warming or Peak Oil will get us first, but whichever we are all doomed :-( |

What springs out from them seems to have a good effect on the ones Daniel was writing for. That isn't to say that times would be easy during any transition. When they settle down to a cathartic robbing Peter to save Paul the whole process starts once again. All this talk about glowballs is smoke screening for what is really going wrong in the system. Ever since the corporate corruption scandals started to get publicised in the US with Enron and co., it must have become obvious to those in the know that the Federal Reserves could not be used to support the Western world and Asia against all the robbing money changers indefinitely. Once the UK was no longer the underdog in the system, things started to come to an head. Glowballs is just a way for politicians to run around in their usual headless chicken like ways trying to make ends meet. |

Speaking of which, according to the BBC: China says it is facing serious power shortages as severe winter weather continues to cause unusually high demand for electricity. Thirteen regions have already started to ration power supplies, the official Xinhua news agency reported. It said coal reserves were down to emergency levels and stockpiles were only high enough to generate power for the whole country for eight days. China's economic boom has led to surging demand for electricity. The coal industry has struggled to keep up, partly because of the government's campaign to close many small mines on safety grounds. |
