It is stunningly beautiful setting. You are fortunate to live in an
area with such lovely vistas.

Thank you, you're right and we're very lucky.

Check out http://windycroft.gt-britain.co.uk/P1091234.JPG which was
taken from the house on 9th January this year looking west at about
midday. The hill at the back is called Beinn Bhreac and is 635 metres
high.

Then check out http://windycroft.gt-britain.co.uk/P3060157.JPG. This one
was taken from the summit of that hill looking in the opposite direction
on the 6th March 2005. Our house is just visible about one quarter of
the way in from the right hand edge and just over half way down from the
top. A week later we had 300 mm of snow!

Double and triple WOW! (Obviously I checked out the pix). You are more
than lucky. You live in a gorgeous rural area, yet you are close to
Glasgow.

I spent much of my childhood on a 450-acre diary farm about an hour
drive north of Kingston, Ontario. There were fields, rocky hills
(small in size compared to the Highlands) and plenty of woods. You
couldn't see another house,

In other words, I truly appreciate the solitude of your setting.

Not down here it doesn't. Even away from the towns, with the growth in
surfing & other watersports, many places are booked 35-40 weeks of the
year.

I find it's mainly the people who have moved to the area who then moan
about sharing it. When I was in my late teens, having a quick turn
around of girls wanting a good time could be regarded as a good thing!
Luckily, there are still plenty of parts of west Cornwall where you
can get away from the crowds, even in August.
