Cold late winter/Spring on the cards?

Well I thought that Feb would be mainly anticyclonic with warm and colder spells
and it looks panning out that way. Eventually it should turn a bit colder next
week with a continued cold plunge of air into eastern Europe. Things may take a
while to warm up I expect in March. Just a preliminary thought, it may be that
we get weather in March that many of us would rather have in January or
December. Mind you Dartmoor has often had some good snowfalls in March and April
and my record (since 2002) remains at 10cm on 11 March 2004 with drifts on the
Widecombe road above 400m asl.

I bet you wish that you were around in 1891. :)

I hope you're wrong! This winter has been good; it has been pleasant and
kind to our wildlife too, which needs all that help it can get.

I'm hoping for an early, warm spring and a long hot summer.

Lovely here today, despite a bit of cloud around it is bright and reasonably
warm for early February. My maple tree is coming out in leaf; damn thing is
6 weeks too early! Funny how the non-native flora get confused by a warm
winter whilst the natives seem to have adapted to take it in their stride.

Currently (12:50), 10.6C, RH 83%, DP 7.5C, 1028.7 hPa (F), Wind 5 mph SSE.

I know what you mean! March 2006 springs to mind, it was perishing, made
your eyes water. Now why do those north easterlies hit us here in Devon so
hard; makes me want to move south.

Sun's oot and 11.7C. Nice.

Low SSTs Nick.

Ah yes just looked up that month. What a good'un.
Mean max. 7.5C (-0.8)
Mean min. 1.8C (-0.9)
10 days with air frost, low min. -5.4C
Lowest max. +2.1C
6 days with snow.
Turned mild after 23rd with no days below 10C then.
I'd settle for another one like that!

No, it was nasty!

Another March like last year's will do for me though without the 3 frosts.

Mean max: 13.3C
Mean min. 2.2C

10.6/2.8 here Nick
4 air frosts and 4 days of snow.
So mild but not too bad but could have been better!
March on Dartmoor is definitely a winter month (in fact more a winter month than
December) due to seas being at their coldest. Starts to warm up a bit in April
with average day maxima of +10.5C.
