OMG Looks pretty dire for the rest of June. Whats this i see on the GFS -
cold North to North Easterly setting in Thursday with Low pressure to the
East and Scandinavia. Thats a real great recipe for crap if ever there was
one. With a bit of luck even those scrumpy jacks on here might get to suffer
with this flow - cuz it seems so extensive. My forecast is for long crap
periods with a fine spell (like in the next few days) tucked in for good
measure and I dont need anythin other than seaweed and a thermometer.
Overrall 2008? well its goddarn rubbish. Actually the word crap or rubbish
could be brought in as a serious bit o' weather terminology.

Dave, why don't you move to the Med, or California, or somewhere that
doesn't have our climate? I'm sure you'd be a lot happier. The UK
simply does not provide the weather you seem to permanently need -
which means that you are unhappy with what you get most of the time.
We have a temperate, Western margin, maritime climate, which is
equable. As a result of our position, facing the prevailing winds from
the Atlantic, and also having shorter periods of tropical, continental
and Arctic influences, our climate gives us, perhaps, THE most
variable and interesting weather in the whole world. Why not get out
and enjoy the fine and dry weather, that you said wouldn't happen, at
the start of this week and stop bloody whingeing about weather that
isn't even on the remotest bits of the gfs? If Thursday onwards
doesn't end up living up to your expectations for a while, it's not
the weather's fault; it's yours for living in it. Seriously, consider
moving, because our climate isn't going to change much, even with
Global Warming.

I spent 6 months living in the Dominican Republic once. Apart from the
tail-end of a hurricane, it was the most dreadfully boring weather
I've ever lived in - and I love sunshine!

Fantastic in South Devon this morning. I've just had an hour in the
strong sun in 20C with a lovely breeze. I predict that there'll be
swarms of lobsters on the beach at Dawlish Warren by teatime!

I didn't mind the rant and I know what Dave means. North-easters at
most times of the year, other than sometimes in the depths of winter,
used to brass me off when I lived in NE England, although they're not
too bad now I'm in Essex.

But I still loathe that NW airstream you get in summer when, after a
lovely sunrise, the cloud quickly builds-up inland and spreads-out,
with nothing further happening until dusk, when convection ceases, it
all dissipates and you get a clear, starry night. A total waste of a
good summer's day, IMHO, there's nothing good about it and I can't
wait for the airstream to change.

That doesn't mean I don't like the UK climate or I want to up sticks
and go somewhere else. It just means I don't look forward to a
forecast (or perhaps even a hint) of that type of weather.

Nothing wrong with the weather here today, though - glorious in
everyones' book, I would hope.

Well, don't think about coming here (south central France) because
it's just as lousy - even worse than last year so far.

We managed (in old money) 78.1 on 26th April, 80.3 on 4th May, and a
grotty 66.2 so far this month on 5th June. The weather, though, I
suggest is just as varied as your own, and rarely boring. Certainly
more thunderstorms - we've had 17 days with thunder so far this year
(since May 1st, in fact).

So if you come to sunny France, bring wet weather gear as well as sun
tan lotion...

Dave, I hate to say this but with a north or northeasterly the weather will
be "best in the southwest", even the MetO web site says that. I tell you,
come down the M4 to Devon and Cornwall and join in the summer party!

Phew that sun is strong outside today :-)
Temp. up to 18.9C at 1315, might yet reach the magic 21C.

Will

Yes I know that Will but I was hoping the NE fetch may extend down to you as
well as it seems pretty widespread on some of the graphics
if of course that happens.

Maybe Tom thinks like me. Thanks for standing up for me Tom. I wonder if
he's sick of hearing about the South West this and the South West that. I
wouldn't want to live anywere else in the UK other than the South East and
yes it dont mean I need to move to these far flung so called paradises.
France is definitely - out they speak damn French! and they really dont like
us. Even Spain is full of wretched Brits, well one side of it is at any
rate. As for California I cant stand them darn Americans, they are too
shallow by half, full of stupid fast food bellies and film star hero
worship - pathetic. But we been getting a rough time of it in the SE
lately and we dont like it. Especially when the rest take the opportunity of
gloating which we never do, do we? in normal years. But this year aint
normal We are the other side of the Jet - its just terrible another
generally unsettled year like last drives me up the wall and I'm gonna drive
you lot up there with me if I half a chance.
Dave lol

Never mind, Dave. When, last month, they were all moaning about how
awful it was we were having the best May for years.

I do sympathise though. I seem to be the only one now regularly
reporting from Scotland and even I can't be bothered as much as I used
to because of the south western bias.

Currently 20.1°C under a whiteish sky.

Hi, Alan, Dave, Tom,

That is always the danger of regional "take-overs" and if it is the
case, it saddens me. This was a good group but is now in danger if
people are beginning to think like this. The problem appears to be the
"we (believe) have the best weather whatever it is, we don't want to
listen to anyone else and nowhere else has any value".
I, personally, like to hear of the weather in SW England and take the
banter with a tablespoon of salt, but I am now seeing that lots of
posters, especially from the North and Scotland seem to have given up.
There was some extremely interesting weather in Scotland last month,
but not a peep from most up there.
SW England is a nice part of the UK but many other parts of the UK are
to me.
We have our own group in the Cumbria area, although I don't use it as
much as I should, perhaps that is the way forward now for some.
I hope this is just a blip and that the lurkers from the rest of the
UK start posting, it IS uksci weather after all. There is interesting
weather happening out there, tell us about it.
Good to hear from you Tom.
