Looks like the Chinese are obsessed about controlling absolutely
everything about the Olympics. Would we do a similar thing here in 4
years' time?

BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Beijing fired over 1,000 rain dispersal
rockets on Friday evening to blow away rain clouds for the smooth
opening ceremony of the 29th Olympic Games at the National Stadium,
confirmed the local observatory on Saturday morning.

It was the largest rain dispersal operation in China, and the first
time that such technology has been used to ensure the weather condition
for Olympic opening, said Chinese meteorologists.

"We fired a total of 1,104 rain dispersal rockets from 21 sites in
the city between 4 p.m. and 11:39 p.m. on Friday, which successfully
intercepted a stretch of rain belt from moving towards the stadium,"
said Guo Hu, head of the Beijing Municipal Meteorological Bureau (BMB).

Then it peed down? I see Britain got a gold in wet spell. She must
have felt at home.

In Britain, it won't matter - it'll probably be ****ing down whatever
time of year they were held. :)

Yes she said that it actually felt "cold" as she was racing.

I just tried to access some Chinese weather a la BBC red button. As if
watching The Proms last night wasn't bad enough using digital and
their camera director...

So where is the weather presentation for the Olymic Breakfast of
losers?

(And why dor the presenters get excited when a foreigner wins? Is it
something to do with the UK's dependence on the USA or is it
pandemic?)

Speaking of that US swimmer, how come swimmers are faster under water
than they are above it?

When you are learning to swim, human nature keeps you head-up until
you are brave and confident ...and told to try a head down sprint.

Streamlining apart, the stopping power of water is greater than air is
it not?

Please stick to trying to forecast Earthquakes (with, hopefully,
improved success; 14% leaves a lot to be desired), as you show that
you know nothing about swimming. Try Google for the answer.
