Summer gloom continues into Autumn!
 

Maybe a bit early still, but after such an appalling summer I would have
expected things to settle down by now and high pressure take up
residence in our region. I would be very surprised if later this month
and certainly not October talk of an Indian summer will be on going. I
must admit I can't remember such a wet early September!!!

The unsettled weather has continued almost unabated now
for months now. Sure there have been a few days of warm
and sunny conditions here and there, but nothing lasts and
any high pressure is always transitory, being rudely shoved
aside as the Atlantic relentlessly pushes in.
Up here I'm used to weeks of unsettled conditions but not
*months* of them. When was the last time we had anything
approaching a 'blocking' (remember them?) high pressure
system?
Mid May perhaps?

Welcome to the new world of global warming Keith. Remember all those
predictions (a few years back) of warm dry summers and mediterranean like
conditions in the UK, yeah right, I'll believe that when I see it in our
maritime climate. We may all have to learn to love the rain and cloud as
specific humidities are on the increase with global warming.

The problem with this summer and to some extent the last one is
not the specific humidity but the cyclonic circulation anomaly and it
can't be said that the former has caused the latter. The predictions
of global warming are that climatic belts shift northwards and the
effect of that has already been seen in that in that July is the
driest month of the year over large areas of England at least. (It's
the driest in my 25-yr record). This can only be due to a lack of
cyclonic activity and my guess is that warm dry summers will return
fairly soon.

Having said that, we have just cancelled this afternoon's cricket match
based on the forecast of a "host of showers affecting East Anglia and the
South East this afternoon" and the sun has just come out, briefly, for the
first time in ages. Also no showers so far and virtually none on the radar!

May I continue to remind the bigots on here that I was told to shut up, stop
expecting a mediterranean style climate, that it was an average summer as
statistics prove it and go live in Spain. In fact I think it was someonme
like, and I re iterate "like" but maybe not him, Graham Easterling but I
can't be absolutely sure that said this, it could have even been you Col,
but I know it was a regular on here, someone anyway who thought they were
far better than me, thats for sure. I'm still hurting I will continue to
hurt about it.
I forecast this very type of weather we got all summer long way back in May
but was hounded down as being an old moaner. That may be the case but it
doesnt warrant bigotry and we know it all attitudes.
Anyway now I blocked most of em that post from the South West so at last its
getting a better place to be on here. Should have donre this ages ago. Thats
the worst thing about this newsgroup the cider swigging cronies.

No, it wasn't me, I make a point of ignoring your rants normally. It
hasn't been an 'average' Summer here, but whoever said you should go &
live in Spain was clearly correct.
