A very sad loss to a fine gentleman , i remember growing up watching
his forecasts which were succinct and to the point , even if the
magnets would not behave themselfs

As well as his broadcasts being clear and informative, he came across as
being a very nice man.

It was certainly easy to keep awake if you shared a night-shift with him!

The best thing I remember about Jack was his stories and jokes on a night
shift at London Weather Centre, never a dull moment when Jack was on, and he
took his turn to make tea!

My favourite TV forecaster has always been Jim Bacon, but Jack was one of
the best; rest in peace my friend.

I too remember Jack Scott's clear and professional style of presenting the
TV forecasts and I am sorry to hear of his death.

As an "outsider" in the field of meteorology, I was intrigued and slightly
excited to find myself sitting next to him once at a Royal Meteorological
Society Saturday meeting - I think it must have been in 1983, shortly after
his retirement.

I can remember clearly the times in the late 1960's that I tuned into the 6
0'clock bulletins. I believe these were broadcast before the News at 6 in
those days and after majic roundabout- correct me if I am wrong For me
those days formed my deep seated interest in the weather, particularly as
already mentioned during the extreme snow and frost events of that era. He
was the best along with Bert Foord and Graham Parker.

However I would say 'Right School'.

I was about to say "old school" - I can recall him quite well presenting
(despite being born in 1975). I guess now we have broadcast meteorologists
rather than meteorologists. A good innings, Jack.

I also remember his humour on the "BBC Christmas tapes" that have gone down
in legend.
