I think I can hear the distant sound of wood chopping ;-)

Jon.

And the hammering of nails, the greasing of runners....

I like the retrogression at the end of the run, that's the sort of thing
required to get some real cold stuff. I can't remember when I last
recorded an 'ice' day here in Southend-on-Sea. Now let's look....
Nearly 10 years now...

1st January 1997 max of -2°C and also the 31st December 1996 (2 days in
a row)
26th Jan 1996 -2°C
2nd Jan 1993 -1°C
7th Feb 1991 -4°C
12 Jan 1987 -6.5°C (My most memorable winter, 1963 I was only 3)
21st Feb 1986 -3°C
16th Jan 1985 -4°C
23rd Dec 1981 -1.5°C
14th Jan 1980 -1.5°C
15th Feb 1979 -2.5°C
1st Jan 1979 -4.5°C
31st Dec 1978 -4.0°C

Readings from either Bob Pritchard or John Benford
8th Feb 1969 -1.1°C
8th Dec 1967 -1.1°C
18th Jan 1966 -1.1°C
4th Mar 1965 -0.6°C
24th Dec 1963 -0.6°C
1st/2nd Feb 1963 -0.6°C
24th Jan 1963 -3.9°C
1st Jan 1962 -0.6°C
