In Cornwall, (near Helston).

Very sunny and most enjoyable visiting sub-tropical gardens at Heligan and
Treverno. Never seen so many bluebells in April before - didn't look right?
:-) One shower at Falmouth on Saturday night but the Lizard pensinsula was
gloriously sunny. I waved to Graham E. across the Bay, but he didn't see me
:-)

Of course heavy showers on Dartmoor on Saturday - giving 7.6mm rain, but
mostly sunny today Sunday with a max. of 15.0C making it the warmest day of
the year!

Polar opposite here in East London, Will. Awful grey drizzly murk with
no hint of the sun adds ammunition to the claim that Easter weather is
nearly always terrible - whether it falls in March or April.

Yes, glorious here (east Hampshire) except when it was raining and murky
:-( There again, it IS Easter, after all

I was at Trevarno on Friday.

They were earlier last year!

I wondered who that was waving. You should have stayed an extra day!

Dawn to Dusk sunshine up here, the daffodils look wonderful in full bloom.
Only small bit of cumulous dotted about but nothing significant.

Quite a temp range though just to remind us that it is only mid April. Min
last night of -0.3C, todays max 19.3C about 1530 this afternoon. Falling
steadily (nearly 3C/hr) since then. It's now 7C and it's very clear so I
wouldn't be at all surprised to see another air frost tonight.

Warmest day by quite a bit since 20th Sep last year.

Cheers

Naw only got down to 2.4C at 0200. I guess the patchy stratus that we have
now came over about that time.

A question for the experts, probably young Philip, when was the last
completely sunless Easter in London ?,and no I dont want to know how
gloriously sunny it has been in your far flung part of the empire ....

.... From 'London Weather': Weather during Public Holidays Chapter
.......

(up to 1964/last considered in this publication)

"The dullest Easters (Good Friday to Easter Monday incl.) were in 1964
(27-30 March) and in 1941 (11-14 April) with a total sunshine during
the holiday of only 1.3 and 1.4 hours respectively".
From my notes, the 1.3 hr in 1964 would all have come on the Bank
Holiday Monday, as Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Day were all
sunless.
[CSR recorder would have been in use / record started at Kew
Observatory in 1881]

I have kept a record of PH weather over the last 50-odd years, and
looking at my records based on Kew then Heathrow, after 1964 I can't
find another year with anything like this total (1.3hr); I only record
to nearest whole hour, and on that basis, I have the following totals
(arbitrarily 10hr over the whole 4 days) for the following years:-

1972 (31Mar-3Apr) = 9 hr
1973 (20-23Apr) = 8 hr
1985 (5-8Apr) = 6hr
1999 (2-5Apr) = 8hr

Philip will have better access to the original data and also be able
to comment upon the Hampstead record.

.... from latest VIS imagery, the sun should come out soon & so
sunshine totals will be in excess of the 1964 & 1941 horrors!

Martin.

Hi, Dave,
Surprisingly, considering we are closer to the North Sea, it remained
clear here. Screen min 0.2C grass -6.1C Lead Mill screen min -1.1C
Best wishes,
Ken
