I should have added: Take care not to have the logger connected when
you perform the install. JGD |

I uninstalled the CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller from Device Manager , then disconnected the data logger. When I reconnected the dater logger it was recognised as a USB device (CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller) and installed itself, but could find no drivers, even on the Weatherlink CD. so I'll download the latest version from Davis. And I've not installed any other drivers recently, and yes it did just stop working. I did expect the CP2102 to also be present in the Universal "Serial Bus Controllers" drop down in Device Manager, but it is only in "Other Devices" Thanks, CK |

I point it to the folders where the drivers are, but still won't install. What a pain. I give in !! CK |

OK, it does rather look as if this is an awkward problem.
A couple of observations: You shouldn't need to point to any driver location when you connect up the the USB logger - it should self-install. If it doesn't then it's an indication of something more basic wrong, perhaps with Windows. Have you installed Weatherlink under an admin login? (If not then there could be some obscure permissions problem). If you run the 'CP210x USB USB to Serial Converter' which is a simple utility found on the Windows Start menu in the Weatherlink group (and 'press any key to continue') then does it say anything other than that the logger is already in serial mode? If none of these give a clue then there are a couple of other options, but I don't want to suggest those until you're tried the above. JGD |

Ran the USB to Serial converter utility, which told me that it was now operating correctly. Auto Detect now informs me that a Vantage Pro Station has been found on COM4 (which is a step in the right direction). Attempts to download data result in "No new data to download" (The last record was at 22:00 on 7th June). Opening the Vantage Bulletin window results in gibberish - the graphics are there, but not filled with data apart from the total rain for the month and year, and the barometer reads: -1109655.5 mb!. No temperature, humidty, wind data, etc., etc. On going through the setup walkthrough, when it came to "Set barometer", the console reading is ".. mb", and pressing OK eventually resulted in a message that "Computer gave up waiting for response from station. Check port setting and connections. This is becoming like a merry-go-round! CK |

Brief comment till the morning: I would
1. Completely power down the Envoy - both mains and battery. Give it a good rest overnight; 2. Power up again in the morning. If you can re-establish contact with the Envoy then that check date and time, not forgetting year, are all synchronised with PC! 3. If still no joy then move the logger to your main console, if feasible, and see how that goes. At least that might tell you whether it's the logger or console that has a problem. If I leave the programme running, the trace increases with time. If I close the programme and re-open it, the barograph trace has vanished, and we have to start again. I really didn't expect it all to go *its up so soon, it's less than 2 years old! CK |
