An apt description today thanks to overcast skies and persistent light to
moderate rain.

The Dartcam sums it up although it looks brighter than here

The Lands End webcam currently looks more appealing

Yes, windy and wet.

Wind now gusting towards 40 mph and the rain is persistent and heavy at
times during the gloomier spells.

Looking very dark now at 15:15.

(15:15), 13.6°C, RH 92%, DP 12.4°C, 1005 hPa (F), Wind 15 mph S.

It's so dark that we've been reduced to playing scrabble on the
kitchen table, as the kitchen is the lightest room. Nothing else to do
and this weather doesn't make you feel like doing anything either!.
It's the foulest day since....probably not very long ago actually, as
it is November and close to the dog-end of the year.

When we see the back edge of this front - which shouldn't be long here
-it'll be just about time for it to get dark.

I do so love this time of year.

Haven't read the rain yet Jon but it will be well over 30mm with AWS giving
25.9mm and still raining at 1635. Very dark here too, house lights on all
day! Two rivers running down each side of the lane as per usual after
prolonged rainfall.

Will (not so tropical Haytor)

:-)

By one measure we're perhaps at rock bottom now, doubly so with this
weather (though it was dry until 2.00 on the dot where I was, and even
then wasn't too bad until the worst of the rain arrived just as it was
getting dark, meaning an abrupt change from day to dark around 4.30 or
so). It's too early for the Christmas lights to go up, so by some
measures, the late afternoon/early evening is at its absolute darkest
and gloomiest now. By the time the Christmas lights come down on Jan
6th, the sun will already be going down later than today.
