Snowing hard in Brussels this morning. Dense, small flakes blown along in
clouds by a brisk wind.
Several cm new snow has accumulated, with drifting. -4°C.

Snow became lighter after about 10.00 local time and it has stopped now.
Wind has died down too. About 10 cm new snow with some drifting. A few
cars on the road proceeding at walking speed. A beautiful wintry scene.

It is when you look at the beautiful spectacle through the window - but it
has its downside.

I am spending Christmas in London and have a Eurostar ticket booked for
Tuesday afternoon. Given the doubts about how the trains will be running
on Tuesday - if at all - I have spent part of this evening trying to find a
flight from Brussels to London instead.

By some miracle, I have been able to book a seat at a reasonable price on a
flight to Heathrow on Tuesday evening. Now all we need, of course, is more
snow on Tuesday so that Brussels Airport is closed again, as it was
throughout this morning ...
