I never did do a solo there, having gained my license at 662
some 5 or 6 years previously. I was there all to infrequently
and was kind of used to the more forgiving controls on the
smaller yet heavier Sedberghs' and MkIII's that I was trained
in.

662? Methuselah eat your heart out g

Is that the winch I see at that end? I don't recall ever
taking
off or landing to the west. It was always towards the sea.

That surprises me, because the prevailing wind is westerly, and
the winch was probably more at that end than at the other.

(The CFI was very unamused by this photo, which was taken
from a
single-seater glider turning finals.)

lol. Did the CFI know from which glider it was taken?

Yes. It was a Ka8.

There
might be some suggestion that perhaps it was maybe yourself
possibly in that glider, perhaps?

Well, if you look at the photographer name on the photo, you can
draw your own conclusion about that!

Nope. I was never winched up over the gorse and I always went
over it coming down. I was there only 4 maybe 5 times.

Doh! I only looked at who uploaded it...

That will explain how you seemed to know exactly how unamused
the CFI was.
