Default Vile weather.

I hope the SE is faring better than the SW today. Driving drizzle/
light rain in a force 4, gusting stronger, southerly all day since
0900. Foggy; visibility has been 100m at times; 200m presently.

Altogether foul. A day for staying in and avoiding the weather.

You're telling me. If the forecast is correct 7 of the 8 days from
last Thursday to this Thursday will have this damp, gloomy weather:
bad going for November (and even last year's very disturbed November)
never mind "spring" (?)
The problem seems to be the wind is "stuck in the wrong direction",
blowing a constant stream of ghastly cyclonic southerlies in . The
hope is that after Friday the whole pressure pattern shifts eastwards
and we'll get more in the way of polar-maritime or even, at times,
arctic-maritime air, which, while not exactly the prolonged warm sunny
spell we need after the poor late winter, will be much more bearable
than what we have at present.

Another lovely sunny morning here. Clouded over this afternoon though.
Unfortunately I can't offer you a holiday cottage to rent though ;-)

My general perception of central southern England is that it usually
avoids the worst of what the east coast gets, and the worst of what
the west gets. Not so this year it seems. We got the southeastern
gloom at the end of February when the west was better - and now we're
getting the southwestern gloom in March where the east is, apparently
better!!!

The SE - or my bit of Surrey at least - didn't fare much better. It was
reasonably bright first thing, but the weather deteriorated and the
drizzle set in - very lightly at first - a little before noon. The
afternoon became progressively darker and wetter.

Horrible here all day. Foggy, wet and dark early with a nagging cold
wind, even though its been from the south. Thoroughly miserable.
Plucking up courage to take the dog: wish me well, but I won't be gone
some time!

Just slightly warmer feeling vile weather because of the lack of wind,
though temperatures are a degree lower than yesterday. The drizzle is
now coming down fairly vertically through the fog. Nice.

Has been much better than expected so far in Southampton area, though
rather thundery looking to the west at present.
Still maybe there'll be a band of heavy rain then it'll clear to the
polar stuff expected at the weekend. (Here's hoping)

It's been drizzling now, in a host of different ways, for two solid
days and showing no signs of letting up. Suicide weather..........
