Default Heavy showers - West Yorkshire

Here in Burley in Wharfedale we have just had a hefty 11.8mm in the
last hour. The heaviness of the showers was not emphasised in
yesterday's forecast. Interested to know what is giving the oomph in
the showers today (upper air divergence?)
