But we're reaching the time of year when Scandinavia can cool down

I beg your pardon, I may have been too hasty, some fairly cold air about
out to T+10 days in the EC.

Will - are you making late changes to your forecast?!

It's certainly very interesting, as this time of year must be about the
rarest for a prolonged block to occur.

There was a good one at the beginning of November in 1980. See the relevant
charts at

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten/fsreaeur.html

There were several centimetres of lying snow in the Channel Islands. According
to my weather diary from Chalfont St Giles there was moderate snow for a time
during the morning of the 7th with 1 cm on the ground at 0700.

It's starting to look a bit tasty for the last week of November.

Interesting pressure patterns. One for the "if only it were January"
drawer - source isn't that cold at the moment, from the looks of it.

But we're reaching the time of year when Scandinavia can cool down
very rapidly, if the Atlantic influence is cut off.

I hope the block sticks in place then - the models are pointing to below
average temperatures but not much more. Hopefully this block will have
some meaningful knock-on for further down the line.

Richard

Richard, maybe you do, but does your family like this cold weather?

Roger
