I believe it was due to the message being safely ignored and reported to
Google ;-)

I believe he got fed up with certain people breaking the guidelines for the
group by bringing politics into discussions. I wish he'd return.

Same here.
He was actually the one who created the group in the first place.

It was Philip Eden that invited me to join this news group about 5
years ago.

I also know for a fact the Philip still views this group even if he no
longer contributes. When I queried the difference in the CET for
September between the sites that Philip looks after and the Met
Office, Philip very kindly sent me a personal email.

Top bloke, it would be great if he contributed on here once again as I
miss his valued input regarding past weather events.

Try asking him before impling anything.

I for one really miss his contributions and hope he'll change his mind
and return. I have contacted Philip several times since he stopped
contributing and I understand his reasons for not being a part of the
group.

I agree.

Things do get bit trollish here at times, and some stuff does get
dwelled on too much IMO, but at least it's a lively group, and although
I might stray from time to time, I always come back. It's good to see
the same old chums too...

What happened to Jack Harrison and Paul Bartlett?
