Default How widespread is central southern England thaw?

Heavy rain and grey skies for an hour now in the Southampton area -
seems the thaw has come much quicker than expected round here. Other
than the Bournemouth area is this widespread/general? e.g. any reports
from inland Wiltshire, Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex?

Nick

NW Surrey [Camberley]

Every thing still frozen here, no thermometer at hand but I suspect we

Wasn't there always a prospect of rain along the coast? Here in Winchester
8 miles to the north it has been snowing on and off since about 10.00am.
Occasionally moderate and waiting to see what the white "blob" on the radar
brings.

Temp about 0 c (poor thermo/exposure).

PS
Just about to post and the blob has arrived. Snow now heavy with large
flakes adding to existing icy cover.

What a fantastic winter so far if you like this sort of thing!

Thawing, still, in Dawlish, but not quick enough to get rid of the ex-
snow. 2.8C down the road in Teignmouth. If this all-covering slush
freezes, surfaces will be literally lethal. Off to the supermarket
before it has time to think about doing that. Happy dayz.

As the chavs are wont to say; "I 'ate slush!"

Slight snow, now ceased, for the past hour here in Wokingham, but only a
dusting on cleared surfaces. Temp just above zero C.

Looks like the heavy area of precipitation is now heading more
northwards and inland than eastwards. Although in the last hour, the
intensity of it seems to have lessened.

The odd flake in central London. Looks like bands are fizzling as they
reach the Greater London area.

Moderate, but fine snow in Coventry presently reducing the visibility
quite markedly. A bit of a surprise (isn't it always?) as I didn't
think it was supposed to reach so far north.
