We are entering a period of Atlantic dominated weather, following
today's depression and indeed, we have been trending towards this for over a week. **At T240, on 22/06/2011, the UK will still be be experiencing a period of Atlantic weather. Depressions, approaching from the west, will bring periods of rain and showers, punctuated by calmer, warmer weather in transient ridges. As depressions approach, it being June, the strong sunshine will lift temperatures quickly, so 25C is not impossible. If we are in the lee of a depression on the 22nd, it will be decidedly cool** I can't predict the exact weather on one day in 10 days time; that's impossible, but there has been enough agreement and consistency to give me 80% confidence in that forecast. Really, what I am saying, as I said on the 5th June, for the 15th, is that there will not be hot and sunny weather due to a block; it will be changeable, at best. |

Nothing to change my mind a day later. This is the season for plumes, however and parts of Europe may be in for its first real baking from one, as we suffer under the cool depressions at T+240. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm2402.gif |

The cool, changeable weather which we're occasionally getting (though not right now) doesn't seem to be extending far into continental Europe, in contrast to many examples of this sort of W-NW-N setup, and while this month probably won't be an absolute 1997-style stinker, you don't seem to have to go too far east to be experiencing significantly better conditions... Nick- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - True. No change to my forecast for the 22nd. The best we can hope for is a transient ridge and there may well be some decent weather in this set up, on occasional days. but really it looks pretty miserable around the 22nd, especially for the NE and E. |

Indeed. Very pleasant. Not looking forward to the sticky 23C heat with 16C dewpoint up here this weekend. A sweaty period coming up :-( Thankfully it won't last long and we will back in cooler and fresher and cleaner Atlantic air by Tuesday. I feel sorry for Londoners trying to sleep in 21C heat at night, I find it bad enough at 15C which fortunately is not that common up here. A pleasant 14.4C at present at 1725 hours. Will -- You need to emigrate to cooler climes! I don't find anything under 20 to be comfortable. (Yes, I should move to warmer climes but wife won't budge). |

It will feel hotter than it is as it is arriving straight after two weeks of rather cool weather for June. That is one important difference between heat in the UK as opposed to the warmer parts of Europe - you don't have chance to acclimatise to it here. |
