Default Wet June 2011 (Southend-on-Sea)

A further 9.2mm of rain overnight for me bringing my monthly total
upto 88.8mm (176%). This is now only 12.2mm from my 1991 record of
101mm. It will only take a storm on tuesday to beat this.

Almost up to my June average of 95mm Keith, you have a flavour of typical
Dartmoor in June, although I suspect you have been considerably warmer!
Good luck with the storm :-)

That's just damp Will compared to the soggy SE. 121mm here!

That your June record is as low as 101mm says a lot about how dry your
area of the country is.

Ok, I missed 1987, when I recorded 109.7mm. So with this afternoons
thunderstorms (currently 21.2mm and still raining) here at Southend I
have smashed 1991's 101mm and have now just passed 1987 with 110.0mm
for June 2011. Looking like my wettest June on record. *boom*

Posted on google groups, although won't update on there.

Weren't most of the long range forcasts for June back in April for a
hot and dry month? Perhaps some work still required on forecasting software.

Is that unusual for you Keith?
An inch is not all that much really when storms are around?

I had 3 falls over 1" in 10 days (3rd-12th) in August 2004!

Interestingly that month I had one day of 60mm and another of 32.5mm but the
rest were all under 25.4mm. Although I live in a wet area we get most of our
rainfall in days under an inch as we don't get many thunderstorms just
Atlantic fronts, drizzle and polar maritime showers. That is why I thought
that Keith would get more through storms. Even my wettest month of October
2004 of 321mm only had three days over an inch, but boy did it rain every
day bar 4!
