Default Any hope left for this summer?

Not liking the look of the latest model runs and Met Office forecast,
which seem to indicate yet another dire first half of July, I can't
believe we're getting this pattern *yet again* - sadly this fools'
fine spell doesn't seem to set to last. This really is getting into a
pattern which repeats year after year. Our real "summer" these days is
March, April, May and (not so much this year) June.

Can anyone with more ability to analyse models give any hope in the
current predictions? If not, wake me up next February. :-(

The Met Office 15 day forecast doesn't look too bad to me for the south,
though as usual the further north and west you go the wetter and cooler
it's likely to be. It just looks like an averageish first half of July.
Anyone who thinks it looks bad has been spoilt by the last 20 years
(excluding the last 3 or so), which have led to some unrealistic
expectations. By 1960s standards the prospects would seem pretty good,
at least for the south.

But we don't live in the 60s, thank goodness, I mean there would no usenet,
no AWSs, no weather models, no X-factor and Cheryl Cole, .... :-)

I make that 3-2 in favour of the current day.

As ma bones predicted, this month will be a wash out, with 5 inches of
rain. August will be normally changeable, with 3 inches of rain.
You'll have to wait until September and the first half of October for an
Indian summer.

My Mom blamed the bad weather in the 1960's on the US and the USSR
sending up rockets. She would say,"No good will come of it, all that
pollution in the atomsphere".

No weather models? Have you forgotten the 3-parameter model? ;-)

Where are you based? The Met Office long range outlook looks reasonable
for the south at least, less good the further north and west you go.

I do have some sympathy for you if you are in the north. My impression
is that it has been very unsettled there since early May based on my
recollection of looking at the rainfall radar on a daily basis.

Hi, Adam,
Great so far in north-east England April to June. My suntan is looking good
with sunshine above and rainfall below average.
The north is a big place with lots of different climate areas (;0)

Ssshhh Ken, you really don't want all those southerners emigrating north do
you? :-)
As for out west, it's grim, persistent wet and dreary, you'd all hate it :-)
