Is this far enough north to be getting the midnight sun at this time of
year? If not, I'd have expected a higher diurnal range.

It's on Spitzbergen, isn't it? If so, the maritime nature of the
location is going to tend to keep the diurnal range down. Also even if
it's not quite getting the midnight sun, it is only going to be below
the horizon for a couple of hours.

I just dug out an old sunrise/set calculating spreadsheet I found years
ago, and at NY Alesund's latitude, the midnight sun lasts from
17/4-26/8.

At Longyearbyen on Svalbard (Spitzbergen) the midnight sun runs from 20th
April to 24th August

It's interesting to see how rapidly the length of the night increases once
the sun does go below the horizon again.

In the extreme case, at the North Pole, night length changes from zero to
24 hours at the equinox in September (actually a few days later due to
refraction appearing to 'raise' the sun).

Do the times of maxima/minima have any particular pattern during the
period of 24 hour daylight?

I've been on a ship at Alesund in a late June heatwave. It's still
pretty light at midnight but it was 27C in the daytime, further up at
Trondheim. It's on the Norwegian coast roughly between Bergen and Trondheim.

Perhaps you know this and are quoting it for comparison, but Ny Alesund
(New Alesund) is not the same place as Alesund.

Ny Alesund is on Spitzbergen island, far north of the Norwegian mainland at
almost 79 degs N.
