Copley, first ground frost
 
Hi, All,

First ground frost of my new "season" this morning. Last of last season was
30th July! My cut-off is 1st August. Screen min not particularly low, but
under clear, calm conditions grass - screen differences can be really big
here. AWS read -1.0C incidentally. Of course, no-one notices these light
frosts.
Interesting forecast for these parts today (:0)

Current 0920Z, Wind NE 1KT(F1), vis 5 miles, overcast, rain, temp 12C dew
10C, 1003mb falling.

Copley Met O 253m

Interesting that on last night's forecast he said a "mild night" for
here with mins of 9-14C. That didn't strike me as especially mild in the
S.E for early August.
I expect swollen streams are your immediate worry now Ken!

9-14C is not exactly cold either Dave! My normal Min. at this time of year
is 11C so 13C would be mild.
Ken should be used to swollen streams by now :-)

9-14C is not exactly cold either Dave! My normal Min. at this time of
year is 11C so 13C would be mild.
Ken should be used to swollen streams by now :-)

My mean minimums for the whole of August for the last two years was 13C
and 14C so bearing in mind we are at the beginning of the month the
range quoted was below average, so I wouldn't say mild, although I agree
it's hardly cold, although 9C would be distinctly chilly!
