I used to use Outlook Express till it vanished in Windows 7
It didn't vanish and I'm using it now. All that happened is that under Vista Microsoft moved it to be part of Windows Live and that's still the case today in Windows 7. It's much the same as ever (albeit sporting a Ribbon now), with the sole exception that it no longer puts a "" in front of quoted text. I guess whoever was responsible for that bit of code was a top-poster! :P |

Unfortunately, everyone else is affected by GG's little peculiarities. If OE users don't put a divider between their replies and the googler's post as Will does, the rest of us have to guess where one post ends and another starts - or ignore the post altogether. It seems that GG can't recognise correctly-formed signatures and automatically remove them - or is their a setting in GG that users are ignoring? If objecting to these faults in GG means I'm smug, then so be it. Anyway, I don't get superior, I just am. -- Graham Davis, Bracknell Whilst it's true that money can't buy you happiness, at least you can be miserable in comfort. Perhaps you should change to Google? From my perspective, I think the only real advantage in using a newsreader is the ability to avoid posts you don't want to see. The doesn't apply to me as if I'm going to look at USW I'd rather see the whole deal, then disappear for a while when it all gets too much! Otherwise using Google has many advantages over a conventional newsreader. DBase2 was brilliant in it's time, in fact I still use a DBase file structure for my weather system now, but for some reason I've stopped using MsDOS. (In fact I programmed under Concurrent C/PM in the '80s, before DOS took over). I've avoided getting into this debate before, but one of the most annoying aspects of USW is being told what to do by people who appear to think they know best, not just on this subject, but many others. This is absolutely my last word on it! Graham Penzance |

Perhaps you should change to Google? You typed your response immediately below an example of the problem which you claim not to see. At least you removed part of my sig by hand, for which I thank you. However, any half-decent newsreader would have done it for you. -- Graham Davis, Bracknell Whilst it's true that money can't buy you happiness, at least you can be miserable in comfort.
