A prolonged period of strong-gale force winds has now eased. Still
very windy in torrential rain/hail showers. Bit less wood on the trees, and more lying in the garden this morning. Recent gusts locally include 67mph at Land's End at 7:16, and 56 knots at St. Ives at 8:53, so still distinctly blustery, but lulls in between the squalls. 29.2mm of rain in the 24 hours to 09:00. That little low late Wednesday is one to watch. Features like that tend to give wind speeds exceeding predictions in west Cornwall. A short period of severe NW gales can result as the wind is funnelled around Land's End. Graham Penzance - more like winters used to be http://www.landsendweather.info/ |
