I've just broken my rainfall measuring glass (is that what it's
called?). Where's the best place to buy another, please? Hugh -- Hugh Newbury www.evershot-weather.org |

Bill is a good source of this sort of thing Hugh. Otherwise a quick search
on Google will find other sources I am sure. Bill Read (Instruments) E-mail Address(es): -- Bernard Burton Wokingham Berkshire. Hugh -- Hugh Newbury www.evershot-weather.org When I broke mine, as one does, I got a new one from Metcheck. It was an absurd price (£35, thirty-five quid!) and I'll be a little wary about going there again. You could use a common-or-garden 100 ml lab measuring cylinder, calibrated at 12.77 ml per mm rain. You could probably get half a dozen of these on eBay for the price I paid, with perhaps a 10 ml cylinder thrown in for small amounts of rain. The excellent Bill Read would be more reasonable, as Bernard suggests. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey. |

Hugh -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wouldn't a pint glass from your local hostelry serve the purpose. An hour or two with a glass etcher would add the necessary graduations, and on those hot afternoons you experience in that part of the country it could be used for it's intended purpose. Jim, in my present clumsy state I would be certain to drop that too! Otherwise an excellent idea, seeing as how I live next door to the village pub! Hugh |

Thank you ----------------------------------- Unless it's for official puproses I can never understand why people don't just weigh it on their kitchen scales. 1g = 1ml. Then apply the appropriate factor for your system. Far more accurate than any by eye volume measurement. Dave |
