Still having to put the heating on at times in quick bursts, just to keep the chill off. These days we have a new fangled device called a "thermostat". This switchs things, like heating, on and off without you having to do anything! The really clever ones can even adjust the temperature they switch on/off at according to time of day and day of week. B-) There's no need for sarcasm. Missed smiley? It's a very old central heating system. Seriously having a decent control system can save significant amounts of expensive fuel and improve comfort but not having such wide variations in temperature. A wireless programmable 'stat should be fairly simple to add to most heating systems. Being wireless you don't have to half dismantle the house to run a cable to the stat position from the boiler or wiring centre and the stat itself is posrtable so you can expermiment to find the best place for it. -- Cheers Dave. I do have dry eye syndrome which causes tears with even the slightest outdoor breeze but you raise a valid point. Dave |

I was quite surprised how warm and humid it felt here today. Mostly cloudy
but occasional hazy sun. Closest its felt like summer for a long time. Also, its been relatively dry this week. Gerard Rochester, Kent "Dave Cornwell" wrote in message ... Darren Bett was saying that he wouldn't be surprised if we see temperatures up to 25C next week. It would be nice but that seems a bit on the high side although I guess the areas sheltered from the E/NE could make it. Dave |

And Mr Fawkes has just upped that to 27C on Friday, well for London at least. He also said that he thought that the dry/warm conditions would be with us for some time to come. This is interesting as on the CT forecast they don't normally comment on the weather beyond the 5 day period. Confidence levels must be very high. -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl |

Like NW England perhaps ![]() But honestly I'd be happy to see the high teens right now, never mind 25C. I'm tired of this cool weather and the nagging winds. Still having to put the heating on at times in quick bursts, just to keep the chill off. -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl This month now appears to be turning into what might be called "an upside-down May" with the westerlies weak or absent and any warmth arriving from the E or NE. It happened in May 1984 when the warmest day of a rotten month arrived on a northerly. It's not a very common occurrence but May is the month for it. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey. |

Well I'm still not optimistic for areas East of the meridian. It is
going to depend very much on how far inland the cloud comes and whether it disperses or not. This will be unpredictable and variable for here in my opinion and so I still don't expect to see any of the higher temperatures that areas further west will get. Dave, S.Essex |
