Unforecast cloud and rain: anyone else get this?
The weather here (Southampton) differed from the forecast today, at least before around 2pm. The forecast said, and the weather charts implied, that there would be quite a sunny morning with cloud increasing about now. This has happened this afternoon (it was quite sunny between 3-4.30pm particularly, now the cloud is coming across) but what was not forecast was a fairly general and extensive area of cloud (low-based and extensive cumulus below Ac sheets and some showery rain, heavy at times) between around 8-11am in particular. The weather charts on the Met Office site showed nothing - guess this was some kind of wave/trough which formed unexpectedly. Did any other parts of southern England see this? Nick |

There was some rain in Guildford (where I happened to be at the time) from about 12:30 for an hour or so. And there was a little rain at Lord's in London, around 1 or 1:30. It sounds as though the further south you were the more rain there was, and that it was moving from west to east or south-west to north-east. -- John Hall "The beatings will continue until morale improves." Nick No rain here but it got quite gloomy late afternoon. The max was only 20.1°C though the humidity made it feel a little higher than that. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, NE Surrey, 556 ft. |
