Default Today's model interpretation (10/09/12)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on Friday. Issued
0354z, 10/09/12.

The weekend will see breezy westerlies giving way to a ridge over England
and Wales; Scotland and Northern Ireland will be on the periphery of the
ridge with SW'lies and a higher risk of rain.

ECMWF: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1201.gif
WNW'lies cover the UK, the result of a ridge to the west. The ridge moves
over the UK on day 6, leading to light WSW'lies. There are further light
WSW'lies on day 7, followed by southerlies on day 8 as the ridge builds to
the east. On day 9 a col brings light winds, followed by SSE'lies on day 10
ahead of a low to the SW.

MetO: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm1201.gif
The MetO run brings a trough to the east and a moderate westerly flow over
the UK. The westerlies ease on day 6 as pressure builds to the south.

GFS: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1201.png
The UK lies under westerlies from a high to the south. There are SSW'lies on
day 6 as a ridge moves over England and Wales, followed by further
southerlies on days 7 and 8. A trough moves eastwards into day 9, bringing
SW'lies, followed by further SW'lies on day 10.

GEM: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rgem1201.gif
GEM brings westerly gales due to a deep low to the north.

JMA: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rjma1201.gif
The Japanese run shows strong WNW'lies and a low to the NE.
