Looking forward to the next one! Same here on Dartmoor Steve. We walk on Sundays and some Sundays have been wet with the preceeding Saturday dry and sunny. Today was dry though but the rivers were high and noisy. Will -- |

Yes, this has been true down 'ere too. We go for a big walk every weekend (unless it's hot, then we head for the beach), and we try and pick the best weather day and so far this autumn we have walked only one the Saturdays. I've just looked back at my records and so far (since 1st Sep), the Saturdays have been the best day and all have been quite sunny. But most importantly, dry. Sunny autumn Saturdays: 1st Sep = 5.8 hours 8th Sep = 5.4 hours 15th Sep = 7.2 hours 22nd Sep = 8.3 hours 29th Sep = 9.2 hours 6th Oct = 8.9 hours Average = 7.5 hours (62% of the total possible). Yesterday we walked out onto the high moor (Dartmoor) and it was a gloriously sunny day, though it was very wet and boggy in places and the streams were in spate. Sun shone today, but it clouded over this afternoon (max of 15.6°C). -- Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

In fact if all rain can fall between sunset and midnight during weekdays, that would be nice :-) The last three days have brought home the vagaries of the northwestern European autumn, lovely when the sun shines (Saturday in particular, Sunday to some extent) but unbelievably depressing when the weather's poor (this morning) Nick |

First to the Midlands and then on to the arid east. Threw it down most nights but lovely sunny chilly autumn days. Did not look very arid to me. Standing water on some of the parkland fields in Cambs and N. Essex. Wimpole Hall, Anglesey Abbey, and Audley End. Back in Devon now in coast fog and drizzle. Well, you can't have it all.
