That's what you get when cherry-picking data and you're so stupid that you snatch the wrong cherry. Global temperature figures just out from GISS and it was the 4th warmest September after 2005, 2009 and 2003. And here's the Met Office response. Haven't read it all myself yet. I think it says, but ever so nicely, "you're a frigging liar!" http://metofficenews.wordpress.com/2...-october-2012/ .... a couple of weeks back, the 'Daily Mail' published a letter from someone making similar points to the article referenced by the OP. I wrote a referenced letter back to explain the errors in the original letter. You won't be surprised to learn that my letter was not published. The Daily Mail is good on finance & sport ... I wouldn't trust it for much else. Mind you, I have equal blame for those that massaged the cautious reports issued in the late 1990s into the implied South of England desert scenario that gained ground - the infamous John Craven/Helen Young presentation confidently explaining that the climate zone of the south of France was marching north and we'd all soon have to get used to it! I'm still waiting. Martin. -- Martin Rowley West Moors/East Dorset UK |

Be that as it may, something is happening because, statistically, records should be broken at longer and longer intervals, yet we've seen all sorts of weather records broken recently. With a garbage patch the size of two double decker buses covering the mid Pacific... what were you expecting? Return tickets? |

I'm still waiting. That was always going to be ********. I used to get turned upon for daring to say otherwise as well. No way can our Islands turn into a mediterranean climate when we are right in the track of the westerlies off the Atlantic. LOL it really seems now that the opposite could be turning out to be true, at least in summer. As for newspapers, I don't take them and don't read them. They are mostly worthless unless you are bored and then they can have entertainment value and you can always wipe your arse with them afterwards. Will -- |
