This cold spell has cured me of my desire for snow for a while.
We have nearly half a metre of level snow, deeper in places, I have been snowed in since Monday, I am running out of bird food, and now the Sky dish is full ot snow. -- Trevor Snowed in in Lundie, in the Sidlaw Hills, 10m NW of Dundee, elev. 185m Weather through www.trevorharley.com |

I know what you mean Trevor, the wind yesterday was blowing ice off trees. I was being ice bombed after I had a tooth out. :-( |

You mean you live a fair way up Scotland and didn't think ahead so can't whack the dish with a broom handle to remove snow or ice deposits? 50 cm of snow makes walking difficult but it has to get to 1 m of dry powder to be real hardwork and not worth the effort. But perhaps you are not a normal healthy, reasonably fit, person. -- Cheers Dave. Nr Garrigill, Cumbria. 421m ASL. |

I know times are hard, North of the border, but I didn't know it was that bad. *)) We had heavy snow on one day for about an hour. It dropped about 4cm. It stopped me getting somewhere I needed to go, due to an accident on the road outside my house, as the surface was treacherous for a short time. The journey I made 90 minutes later, when the road cleared, was difficult to the A380, but the landscape was pretty. My missus made a snowman in the garden, but it has now all gone. Like you, I've seen enough snow for this winter. |

There must be a HUGE amount of water trapped in all this snow. I am
thankful I am near the top of a hill. If it really does melt quickly tomorrow then it will be momentous. In the old days, before I had sky, I recorded none - its global climate rising that is the culprit I am sure. brian Aberfeldy 24cm or so this morning |

I remember the other extreme when I was young and fit. Ploughing my way through the Empty Quarter I came across a youg woman buried in the sand. She asked me for help so I asked her what happened to her and she said; "A bunch of Arabs caught her and robbed her and stripped her naked and buried her alive... and would I please help?" So I said: "What's in it for me?" And she said "I hid half a jam buttie from them." |

Was pretty evil out late last night lot's of blowing snow in the F5. Shifted all the drifts around the odd one across roads a couple of feet deep but not as bad as earlier in the week. -- Cheers Dave. Nr Garrigill, Cumbria. 421m ASL. |
