Yet another game off

Hi, All,
Another game falls victim to the weather, we'll be still catching up in June
at this rate!
Well done again Met O btw, and our local roads snow clearance teams -again
for them as well.

With respect, it's someone other than the Met Office providing the highway forecasts for Co. Durham.

Hi, Stephen,

I didn't mean there was a link between the two. I was merely praising the
Met O for another accurate forecast, including the freezing rain which is
causing more problems than the snow did. I often praise them because imho
they are usually pretty good in this area, especially with the snow line.
I was also praising Durham County Council and our local farmers (I know they
get paid for it!) for the excellent job that they have done yet again to
keep our roads clear. In these times of cutbacks, winter road clearance has
been made a priority again by DCC, thank goodness. I think the current
provider for road forecasts to DCC is Meteogroup. I assume it's a cost thing
and not accuracy.
Unfortunately, our football pitch is not heated and the match was off, yet
again.

Best wishes,
Ken

Hi, Ken.

Understood.

The current provider is indeed MeteoGroup, which is, er, where I work! And, again with respect, and not wishing to to step far down this particular path, please don't assume that it's about cost! You've just seen for yourself how effective were Durham CC's (and farmers') actions allied with the forecasts. It's those forecasts on which the salting and ploughing actions are taken.

Best wishes,

Stephen.

Hi, Stephen,
As soon as I hit send I realised that my statement was ambiguous! Didn't
mean what it looked like yet again (:0). I imagined a certain JM would be
cursing me at MeteoGroup! He gave us an excellent illustration at our NE
Metsoc group of what you do by the way. Anyway, credit to all concerned.
Best wishes,
Ken

Hi, Ken.

I've yet to hear any cursing! I'm glad you caught the gentleman in question at your MetSoc meeting.

Thanks,

Stephen.
