Just looking at my records and only one month since last August has been average or slightly above average for temperature, apart from that the rest have been slightly below and 1 degree or more below. Of course that's based on the newer 30 year averages. Perhaps we are reverting to the old figures again.
Seriously though, globally, what's the score ? Currently -1.4°C Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net "Weather Home & Abroad" |

Why say this Keith? The UK really doesn't count in global terms, but UK temperatures have increased in line with global temperatures over the last 30 years. in addition, UAH and RSS showed Feb in the top 10 Februaries on record, despite near La Nina conditions 3/4 months ago. |

... Seriously though, globally, what's the score ? Australia has just had the hottest summer ever and the US 48 contiguous states have just had their hottest year. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/env...g-history.html Since that new item NASA has reported: "NASA Finds Long-Term Climate Warming Trend" http://science.nasa.gov/science-news...15jan_warming/ and "Amplified Greenhouse Effect Shifts North's Growing Seasons "http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2013/10mar_greenhouseshift/ Meanwhile the Sun is fading with NASA saying "We are currently over four years into Cycle 24. The current predicted and observed size makes this the smallest sunspot cycle since Cycle 14 which had a maximum of 64.2 in February of 1906." http://solarscience.msfc.nasa.gov/predict.shtml It is not just the weather that is Chaotic. The climate is too. Global warming does not mean temperatures rise evenly all over the globe. Cheers, Alastair. |

Jet stream moves to around 45 N and Arctic air suddenly penetrates much further into previously temperate zones? |

Thanks for the replies, it was a serious question and had always believed that the coolness was just a 'local' variation in the big scheme of things. I just wonder what the next phase is going to bring? Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net "Weather Home & Abroad" |
