I've just seen the local weather where David Braine gave some figures from me, well they were incorrect.
He gave the average max as 5.3C, it was 8.8C. (5.3C was the overall mean for 1962, which I mentioned in the same email as a comparison to this years 6.1C, so he picked up the wrong figure.) I don't know where the 60 hours sunshine came from, not from me as I don't record sunshine. The March total was near 90 hours at Camborne, 76 hours right on top of the moors at Bosullow, so probably between 90 & 100 hours in Penzance. Graham Penzance |

It still dosn't explain the 60 hours of sunshine, as I don't have a sunshine recorder! Cheers Graham |

I don't know where he got the 60 hours of sunshine from either, and it seems rather low. He actually did report an average maximum of 8.8°C for Penzance. My sunshine total for March was 94 hours. -- Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |
